The Fool Tarot Card

Description

There are the twenty-two archetypal cards in any given tarot deck. They are the broad-brush strokes that paint everyone’s lives. They represent the cosmic laws of karma, and the dogma we use to justify or enforce our behavior. They color the overarching forces in effect taking place at the time of the reading. The higher arcana are the ‘fate cards’, if you will, or what might be considered outside your immediate influence. They offer clear examples of our best selves and worst selves. Concepts like the seven deadly sins can be found here that of pride, avarice, extravagance, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth, but the seven holy virtues of courage, generosity, mindfulness, diligence, patience, kindness, and selflessness are also found in the twenty-two archetypes of the high arcana.

The Fool is the start of the deck. Zero is likened to the oroborus. It is the beginning and the end. The innocent must always remember that the first step is a big one, but in order to start any journey one must be willing to believe in himself and take that first step. Will he be foolish and get caught up in the entanglement of thorns that so often lead us astray - seeking money and power? The message of the fool is be mindful of the gap between reality and possibility, and skip to keep your innocence, don’t get caught up or bogged down in reality, maintain innocence and welcome possibility.

The innocent businessman (fool) steps out of the train to seek his fortune in the green forest of possibility. The train platform is the entry into the world of concrete possibility and manifestation. The fool is released from the spirit train and his journey begins anew under his own aspect, rather than spirit directing or carrying him, he is now ambling under his own power. Behind those green forest trees of possibility, are meadows of self doubt, which the fool can meander by, get caught up in, feel overly exposed by, or brightly run through with out a care, what he ends up doing will be determined by his awareness. The platform sign says “Mind The Gap” as he gets off the train, but he knows that his destiny can take him anywhere.
